Witnesses to History, Sharing their Stories: The Canadian Society for Yad Vashem Tribute to Survivors 

The Canadian Society for Yad Vashem (CSYV) is privileged to collaborate with the Government of Ontario to present the annual Tribute to Holocaust Survivors. The theme of this year’s Tribute to Holocaust Survivors is Witnesses to History, Sharing their Stories. Our ceremony is focused on the reasons why survivors began to speak and share their life story and why it’s important for their testimonies to continue to be shared.

The honourees that we recognize represent this year’s theme. We pay tribute to: Shary Fine, Melvin Goldberg, Leslie Fazekas, Bianka Kraszewski, Leslie Mezei, Miriam Mozes, Magda Sebestien, Vladimir Sebestien, Leonard Vis. Each of them showed great courage in the face of horrific circumstances. They have seen it as their sacred responsibility to keep the memories of the Holocaust alive, to tell their personal stories to groups large and small, and to engage with the media.
