Holocaust survivor Gershon Willinger will speak about his experiences during the Holocaust. Gershon was born in Holland in 1942 to German-Jewish parents who were murdered in Sobibor in July 1943. First, as a one-year-old, orphaned child he was placed in hiding. In 1944, as a two-year-old child he was deported on a childrens’ transport to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany and later transported to the Theresienstadt camp in Czechoslovakia where he was liberated in 1945 as a three-year-old child. As an adult he became a social worker and immigrated to Canada with his wife and three children in 1977. Open to the general public. Specially recommended for teens and their families.
